Big Time

Congratulations to the University of South Florida Bulls football team. They finished the season ranked in the Top 25 in all the major polls. 23rd in the AP, 25th in the Coaches, 24th in the Harris, and 21st in the BCS.

In perspective; neither Florida State nor Miami (FL) received even one vote on the AP’s or Coaches’ final ballots. Keep up the good work kids, and remember the pressure will be 100 times more intense next year.

Geno Hayes Is A Punk

Horror of horris, Garcia goes down early and young Gradkowski has to enter the game. It was “cover your eyes” bad for a while there. But that still couldn’t bring me down from the human highlight reel that is Tim Tebow and his performance against the Infidels. (more…)

Short week, and a late entry. Picks also contained within. (more…)

All Things Florida > All Things Ohio

What a week in football. Peyton tosses six picks, sending the Colts into a two game losing streak. The Gators get a big win to keep their slim SEC East hopes alive. One of the winless NFL teams, the Rams, gets off the schneid. And in turn helps the Bucs claim sole possession of first place in the NFC South. The Bulls get back on the winning track by wood-shedding hapless Syracuse. Oh, and Ohio State got Zooked. (more…)

Winless

After watching the Bucs fall Sunday evening, and drop my personal rooting interests to a combined 0-4 for the weekend, I had decided to just scrap the TALB for this week. I was pissed off all the way around. But then I started thinking about the games, and a post started to form. And besides, I have a duty to my reader to do this every week so he’ll have something to read.

Stronger

Sorry for my lateness, you should just be glad that I showed up for this fake sh–, oh wait. I’m not Kanye West. Anyway, it’s been a hellish week and I had hoped to get out the TALB Wednesday morning. But it didn’t happen. Don’t expect picks before Friday either.

In football news, the Bucs won a game on paper, but not in reality. The Gators figured out how to win a tough SEC game. And the Bulls were not punished too harshly for a loss to an un-ranked team. (more…)

That And $1 Will Get You The Sunday Paper

The Bucs and Bulls went out and won over the weekend. Both teams looking to sustain their success thus far through the season. And while both are solidly contending for post-season glory, they haven’t proved jack squat just yet. For the Bulls the fall can be potentially fatal. They are living the good life on the wacky upset-fest that 2007 has been. One lop-sided loss and those fickle pollsters will drop them faster than Nike did Mike Vick. On the other hand, the Bucs have some room to wiggle. The NFC South is not good, it’s okay, but not great. 10-6 or 11-5 should take this division. But that doesn’t mean they can relax either. Both local football concerns are still a long way from the promised land. And only continued focus will get them there. (more…)
