Dagum

I knew the Bucs would not win many games this year. But I didn’t expect them to be cover-your-eyes terrible. This is Ray Perkins level ineptitude. Tim Tebow returned for the Gators, not that he was really needed. Bobby Bowden’s chance to silence the growing furor over his future was squandered by Mickey Andrews’ defense. (more…)

Clever Title

For some reason, I just don’t have it in me this week. Just a few complaints and observations. And I don’t have the energy right now to run down the Bobby Bowden “affair”. I have an opinion, don’t be mistaken. I just don’t feel like writing it down just this second. So, please enjoy, and I’ll see you next week. (more…)

Bonk!

Tebow, bonked on the head. FSU bonked in the face. Penn State bonked (again) by Iowa. And Bucs fans once again bonked in the groinal region by their beloved team. Will the hurting ever stop? (more…)

Much Ado About Nothing

And the excitement that a game like Southern Cal versus Ohio State can generate for people all around the country who could normally care less what goes on in Los Angeles or Ohio. That will always be the thing that separates college football from the NFL. The pure excitement of Saturday afternoons. I know so many people who will watch a full Saturday of football, but only their team on Sunday. (more…)

Football News (If I Had My Way)

Below is an exercise in alternative history. What if things had gone the way that TALB wanted them to go? What would be the football headlines look like? (more…)

Super Bowl XLIII: Musings

For a few seconds there, I thought the Cardinals might just win. But in a year when we had the Devil Rays in the World Series and a black man elected President, the universe just wouldn’t allow this many “once in a lifetime” things to happen in so short a time. Either that or the Steelers were just too good. (more…)
