Too Many Bowls
What? Another bowl game? Jeebus. And they call it the “Super Bowl”? What… oh. Anyway. Who is going to win? The Saints or the Colts. Read on to find out what I think.
When all is said and done, I think that the Saints will be the World Champions. And not because of my well-known disdain for the Colts. Most of all, and this goes contrary to everything I think about football, it will come down to Dwight Freeney. No matter if he plays or not, that guy will be the difference. In fact, I think the Colts have a better chance without him. If he plays, he won’t be 100%. In that case, the Saints have an advantage that they no longer have to devote extra resources to blocking him.
And at that point I think the Saints’ offense is slightly better than the Colts. Statistics may not support me in that presumption, but I think the Saints are just better.
Though, I am a little tired of hearing about how a Saints victory will a healing event for the city of New Orleans. It’s just a football team and a football game. Not to mention that Super Bowl victories tend to spell doom for the following seasons. This one win might feel good for now. But what happens when the Saints go 8-8 next year? Just enjoy the win for what it is, a sports victory. Nothing more, nothing less.
Anyway, back to the game. In a more general selection, if a team can jump out to a 14+ lead by halftime that team will win the game. That margin may not hold, but it will give the leader a nice little cushion for the remainder of the game.
In other news, I saw Keyshawn and Gruden on the same set at the Worldwide Leader’s Super Bowl headquarters yesterday. And I tell you what, Key looked to be much more uncomfortable than Chuckie.
