Bonk!
Tebow, bonked on the head. FSU bonked in the face. Penn State bonked (again) by Iowa. And Bucs fans once again bonked in the groinal region by their beloved team. Will the hurting ever stop? (more…)

New name, Thursday Afternoon Linebacker. I’m a late son-of-a-gun this week. Could the Bucs BE any worse? Depending on who you listen to, either the Gators held back because they were afraid of Monte Kiffin, or Lane held back because he wanted to stave off a blow-out by using ball control. Either way, the Florida-Tennessee collision was not a great game. (more…)
I was happy to see the NFL come back. Even though the pro game is a lot less exciting than the college version, it does feature the very best football players in the world. And when those guys get going, they are a delight to behold. But not nearly as nice as seeing the Volunteers go down in their first test of the season. And the excitement that a game like Southern Cal versus Ohio State can generate for people all around the country who could normally care less what goes on in Los Angeles or Ohio. That will always be the thing that separates college football from the NFL. The pure excitement of Saturday afternoons. I know so many people who will watch a full Saturday of football, but only their team on Sunday. (more…)
This is just a quick run down of the games I plan to enjoy this weekend. (more…)
Can you believe it? I have stuck with this thing for 5 years. What? No, it was a break. Yeah, that other one too. Look, it’s Elvis. Anyway. Officially, October 6th with mark the true 5 year anniversary of TALB. Thank you both for reading all these years. The very first full week of for-real football was a long one. Starting with the NC State-South Carolina snooze-fest to the scintillating FSU-Miami collision. I don’t know about you, but my butt was numb by the time it was over. (more…)
Glorious college football returns to our Saturdays today. I will be plopped in front of the DLP starting in just about 30 minutes for Gameday. And then throughout the day of surprising early-season match-ups.
I’m particularly looking forward to Georgia-Oklahoma State and Alabama-VT. The Oklahoma-BYU and Notre Dame-Nevada collisions are intriguing as well. And if our friends at Time Warner would subscribe to ESPN360, I could actually watch the Gators tonight. But alas it is not in the cards for me.
Feel free to comment throughout the day if you’re watching any of the games. And enjoy your tailgating for those of you going to a game.
