Football New Year

Now that the NFL’s only two bowls (Super and Pro) are complete, TALB can turn the page on 2007 and get started on 2008. This very first post of the 2008 TALB season will lay out, in boring detail, how I plan to do things this year. I tried some structure back in the bl0gax days, but at that time I was only doing this once a week. So, if you’d rather not read about administrivia then by all means head on out. But I’m taking suggestions. This is your TALB. And it can only get better with audience participation.

My Biases
You know I’m a fan of the Bucs and Gators (and Bulls to a lesser extent), and it shows. I hope to expunge those biases as much as possible during this season. I’d like this to grow into something more, and keeping it focused only on two teams will make that difficult. The challenge, for me, is that in my life I don’t get much time to watch other football games. Sure I can scour the ‘Tubes in search of news and notes from around the NFL and NCAA, but nothing is a substitute for live games. I’ll do my best to get in front of more collisions this year, I promise.

The Format
Once football season gets into full swing at the end of August, I plan to post as follows:
Saturdays: off
Sundays: off
Mondays: The weekend’s college action
Tuesdays: The weekend’s pro action
Wednesdays: Feature article
Thursdays: Picks
Fridays: Feature article

That’s the plan at least. Of course there are likely to be quick hitters here and there as things come up. Obviously, things like holidays or me being busy at my day job can and will alter this schedule.

During the off-season I’ll be doing feature posts as they come up. Also, there should be something on the NFL draft in late April. And a preseason look at the NFL in July.

You
Please, tip me off to news. If you have something you want to say, and the comments just won’t cut it, send it on over. I’m open to adding people as regular contributors too. Point your favorite e-mailing conveyance to “talb” at tuesdaylinebacker (d0t) com and fire away. This would be especially useful for those of you who follow teams other than the Bucs and Gators.

Links
Take a look down the right side, I’ve posted links to several other football related blogs. I’ll add more as time goes on. But if you can explore them that will help TALB grow.

And One More Thing…
If you have some spare time, and have the tolerance for digging through stats, news, and depth charts please drop me a line. There’s something I’m working on, and I could use both some help and some perspective.

Finally, I’m glad that you’re here. It may not seem like it sometimes. But I enjoy sharing my love of football with the rest of you.
