My Head Asplode

It would be easy to run with the whole “Fail” or even “Epic Fail” meme right about now when discussing the 2008 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And, as I’ve said before, 9-7 isn’t the worst record the Bucs have ever finished a season with, by a long shot. But for some reason this feels different. (more…)

Disgusting

If you are a fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, what you witnessed Monday night should nauseate you. Simply make you sick to your stomach. A defense that is supposed to be one of the best ever (when taken over multiple seasons) allows nearly 300 yards rushing. The tackling was so poor as to be essentially non-existent. And don’t get me started on the run of dropped passes. But, this one should fall squarely in the lap of the defense. It’s not often that the Bucs’ defense gets to be the one that loses the game, but this is one of them.

The NFC South is all but gone now. Don’t kid yourself. The Panthers have the Broncos, Giants, and Saints remaining. If this Bucs team doesn’t beat Atlanta, we may not even make the playoffs, let alone get to go on the road to lose another first-round playoff game. I will f**king explode if this team takes the Chargers and Raiders games “off”.

Our destiny is no longer in our hands. We have to win 3, get to 12-4, and hope that something breaks our way. Anything short, and the lads will be at home before the BCS championship game.

The TALB Playoff

NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision playoff “plans” are like bellybuttons (or something less family friendly), everyone has one. So, I’m not about to submit that mine is better than yours. Or your crazy co-worker’s. It’s just the one that I think can work. (more…)

What Could Have Been

Florida State, the once mighty king of college football is now an also-ran. They’ve been beaten every which way you can imagine. And not just by the insanely talented Gator teams of the last five years. But the proportionally mediocre squads of the ACC have had their way with the Noles as well. I just can’t figure out why FSU has been this bad for this long. They recruit the same guys as Florida, they play in a weaker conference, and they have a legend at head coach. There will be down years for sure, but they have at least one, if not two, full classes of players that have been nothing but ordinary. Could it simply be the coach? Could the grand old man be hampering the team more than helping? I’ve said as much in the past, but unless and until he decides to hand the reins over to Jimbo, I think the ‘Noles are in for a lot more futility than glory.

What To Do With the Big XII South?

The positioning, posturing, politicking, and jawing should already be in full swing. At this very moment it is not possible to make a true value judgement between Texas, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma. Their resumes are not yet complete. Where we find these three teams requires a complete, 360 degree, view of their respective seasons. We at TALB, following next week’s action, will examine each team in three parts to determine who we think should proceed to Kansas City to face Missouri. (more…)

Begging For Some Bucs

Confine to the wilds of South Texas is no way to go through life. But alas ole’ TALB is stuck here. Does anyone have a Slingbox they might let me stream from on Sundays? Or maybe you’re willing to pick up my slack regarding Bucs coverage? Anyone?

And this WP app for iPhone is mad awesome.

Resistance Is Futile. Your Team As It Has Been Is Over. From This Time Forward, You Will Service Us.

urbanmeyer.jpgQuoth Urbanus of Swamp. If I was any good at Photoshop the picture to the right would be all Borg-ified. But I’m not, so it ain’t. Anyway. Deep hurting is coming to a town near you, well if you live in Gainesville, Tallahassee, Atlanta, or Miami Gardens that is. Maybe a Terminator reference would have worked too; Listen, and understand. That team is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are defeated. (more…)
