The End Is Nigh Upon Us

The season is nearing its end. For the colleges the lights were turned out more than a month ago for most. The dark times loom. This year we do have the solace of a real hockey season to keep our thirst for plastic armor clad gentlemen engaged in battle. With just the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl remaining, major football has but 120 minutes left.

As there was not a lot of football to be had and not a lot left, the column is short this week. Though we did see a couple of instant classics in the AFC and another set of officials’ gaffes all around. Plus we were treated to our annual January Manning choke-fest.

TO? Just say NO!

This just in, hot on the heels of the Eagles giving TO official permission to talk to other teams comes a terrible rumor. MSNBC is reporting that the Bucs are at the top of a list of teams interested in signing Owens.

Do we really need Meshawn: The Sequel? Heck, I’d take Meshawn back in a second if it kept TO off the Bucs’ roster. Bucs fans, get up and make sure the team knows we don’t want TO around.

Not So Much

Yeah. So. The Bucs’ defense allows the fewest yards from scrimmage by a losing team in the history of the NFL playoffs. It’s that losing part that really hurts. And farewell (or not) to the outgoing ESPN Sunday Night Football crew. You guys were terrible. Don’t let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya. I’m really at a loss for anything else here… so let’s get on with it shall we? (more…)
