Tuesday Afternoon Linebacker

Wow. I have actually done a second one of these. Maybe I can actually keep up with things for more than a few days. It was a great football weekend all around, mostly.

Come one folks. It’s still early in the college football season and not only are the Gators out of it for the National Championship and the SEC Championship, but we can’t even realistically win our division. It would be one thing if the offense was still struggling. But the defense is just as much on it’s heels as the offense. And, I hate to say it, but it looks like the shine is coming off of Chris Leak. He’s still a good quarterback, but he may not be as good we all thought. Has anyone else noticed him trying too hard? I watch him sit in the pocket and just look and look and look. Or when he starts to run he almost always slows down right near the line of scrimmage just in case. As Bkizzle said today, hopefully we’ll end up 8-5 again and Zook will get the hook.

Stop Me Before I Blitz Again

About the only thing the LSU Tigers didn’t do well was blitz. They were too eager when they actually blitzed. And when they were trying to fake the blitz they were leaning away from the line too much.

Break Up The Thunderers
A two game winning streak? My weak ass team? A game and a half out of first pl8726 Say it ain’t so. 2-2-1 after five weeks is a lot more than I expected after seeing my initial roster. Though, the team I’m playing this week has a pretty good set of players. We’ll see if my streak comes crashing back down to Earth.

Go Marching In
The Bucs won. Man, I was having flashbacks to the 80’s so far this season. But the Saints game was a thing of beauty (mostly). It’s pretty cool to see how the Gruden offense works with a mobile quarterback. The statue of Brad Johnson is a great player and all, but he’s just not right for this scheme. Too bad for Chris Simms. This week against the Rams should be more telling about the progress of the Bucs with the new QB’s.

Grated Cheese
The Packers get their ass handed to them at Lambeau, it’s a beautiful thing. The mystique of Lamboo is gone. I will repeat my request from last week, Favre retire.

K-Martz
Man, I stopped watching the Rams-Hawks game with the Blue Birds in command. Then the damn Rams come back to win. I really don’t know which team I hate more, the Rams or the Packers.

WTF?
All weekend we get game breaks and updates on the damn baseball playoffs. Who gives a crap. If you are really that interested in baseball then you’re probably watching the playoffs instead of regular season college or pro football.

Those Miller Lite ads are too funny. The rock star one that played during the Bucs game was priceless.

Worst. Call. Ever.
In the Bucs-Saints collision; I thought that one butt equaled two feet. But that ref Mike Carey has always seemed like he was clueless.

Super Bowl XXXIX
I am not going to attempt to predict the outcome of this season’s Super Bowl, but I will tell you which teams I think are going, as of this past week’s action.
